Discover a New Reason to Indulge in Nuts - Daily Consumption May Reduce Depression Risk!

Exciting findings from a recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain suggest that enjoying just 30g of nuts daily could potentially lower the risk of depression by a notable 17%.

Published in the esteemed Clinical Nutrition journal and spearheaded by scientist Bruno Bizzozero-Peroni, this research revealed that "regular low-to-moderate consumption of nuts is associated with a lower risk of depression compared with non-nut consumption."

In this extensive study, over 13,500 participants in the UK, aged between 37 and 73, without pre-existing depression, had their nut consumption meticulously recorded. Depression, in this context, was defined by participants reporting a diagnosis from a doctor or psychiatrist or being prescribed anti-depressants.

Throughout the study period from 2007 to 2020, participants were assessed for depression at both the initiation and follow-up stages. Remarkably, only 8% of the participants developed depression.

Mr. Bizzozero-Peroni highlighted, "Our findings underscore an additional benefit of nut consumption, revealing a 17% decrease in depression associated with regular nut intake. This emphasizes the potential role of incorporating nuts into one's daily diet as a healthy practice to prevent depression, especially in individuals free of other known risk factors such as obesity, unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, loneliness, and medical conditions."

The study encompassed various types of nuts, including salted, unsalted, and roasted varieties. For more in-depth information, visit www.clinicalnutritionjournal.com. Embrace the goodness of nuts for a potential positive impact on your mental well-being!
